In Brazil, caipirinha fans in the biofuels industry will be delighted to learn that the new Grupo Ypioca sugarcane plant in Ceara state will not only be the world’s largest maker of cachaça at 23 Mgy, but also have a 13 Mgy ethanol capacity as well. The plant will have the technology to manufacture Cachaca, ethanol, neutral alcohol, anhydrous alcohol — all the major sugarcane derivatives. The plant is the sixth for Grupo Ypioca, the oldest family-run business in Brazil, having been founded in 1846.
