KL Energy becomes first advanced biofuels producer to win approval under Biomass Crop Assistance Program
In Wyoming, KL Energy announced that its Western Biomass Energy cellulosic ethanol plant, which commenced commercial production in March 2007 in near Upton, has become the first facility in Wyoming to win approval as a Biofuels Crop Assistance Program facility from the Farm Service Agency. According to the Nov 4 BCAP list, KL is also the first producer of advanced biofuels to win approval.
According to the FSA, “fiscal year 2010 funding is not yet allocated. What this means is that if you have material owners that are delivering, or will be delivering to you and also want participate in this program, they cannot signup until the funds are available…material owners may mistakenly think they will be paid the cost match for materials from us for delivered materials as soon as the facility is approved. This is not correct. They must have an approved request for cost match in the FSA County Office before the payments from us can be made, and that approval cannot be made without the 2010 funding release.”
