Monsanto opens new research venture in China

In China, Monsanto announced a new research venture in Beijing, that will provide a platform for collaborations between the biotech giant and the Chinese scientific community on a host of genetic advances. The company had previously announced a partnership with Huazhong Agricultural University and last year announced an $84 million investment in China National Seed Group. China has been importing genetically modified corn and soy since 2004, and has been growing GMO cotton
