Scania, Vale partner to develop ethanol-powered industrial engines, compressors

In Brazil, Scania and Vale Soluções em Energia announced an MOU for collaboration on improved industrial engine technology utilizing ethanol as a fuel. The engines will be used for power generation, and pumps and compressors used in the mining industry among other applictions.

Vale is a major Brazilian mining concern, while Scania is a Sweden-based major manufacturer of trucks and buses for heavy transport applications, as well as industrial and marine engines.
