Nippon Oil, Toyota, Mitsubishi aim to produce commercial-scale cellulosic ethanol by 2014
In Japan, Nippon Oil, Toyota, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toray Industries, Kajima and Sapporo Engineering jointly announced that they would establish a research consortium to develop low-cost cellulosic biofuels. The consortium’s goal is 66 Mgy in cellulosic ethanol production by 2014 at a cost target of $1.65 per gallon by 2015.
