The Philippines to accredit five new biofuel plants in 2009; local demand rising
In the Philippines, the Department of Energy is set to accredit five biofuels manufacturing plants in 2009. The Biofuels Act of 2006 mandates a 2 percent biodiesel blend and 5 percent for ethanol. The DOE estimates that demand will reach 44 million gallons of biofuel this year and grow to 71 million gallons in 2009.
