From the Belfast Telegraph: “The world’s first racing car made from cashew nut shells has been assembled with the help of Northern Ireland researchers. Potato starch and recycled bottles were also used in the construction of the Formula 3 vehicle. It can reach speeds of 130mph. The car will run on biodiesel.”

Chevy Volt on view at Detrot Auto Show; on track for Nov 2010 debut; MSRP $45,000.
In Michigan, the focus at the Detroit Auto Show was squarely on econ-friendly cars. General Motors vice-chairman Bob Lutz, champion of the Chevrolet Volt, said that the plug-in hybrid was on schedule to debut in November 2010. Observers have pinned the retail price tag of the new “green” car at $45,000.
