Cowichan biodiesel plant opened
In British Columbia, a commercial-scale biodiesel plant has been officially opened in the Cowichan Valley. The plant, owned by the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-operative, will use waste cooking oil collected from nearby homes and restaurants. The co-op had previously provided customers with cooking oil-derived biodiesel from other areas, and, as the co-op explains, the new facility will “close the sustainable fuels loop in the Cowichan Valley.”
