We are looking for a passionate and innovative Bioenergy Scientist to lead our multi-disciplinary Bioenergy team. The person we appoint will be a practicing laboratory researcher who enjoys digging deeper into the science to produce and publish high quality research. As the Research Leader you will spend 0.1FTE of your time involved in leadership activities for your group of 5 to 10 scientists and technicians. It is expected that the rest of your time would be spent on science projects.

Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry industry, wood products, and wood-derived materials. We lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts and energy and the establishment of a broader based bio-economy.

Reporting to Clean Technologies Science Leader, you will:

• Lead the research strategy for the Bioenergy Team in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Continue to develop a nationally and internationally recognized Bioenergy team.
• Produce and drive the delivery of science excellence from proposal for funding, through to publication of the research.

Prerequisites for this role are a Ph.D. qualification in chemistry, wood/material science or another relevant discipline with a minimum of 10 years’ research experience (beyond PhD level), or equivalent experience. A strong publication record is essential.
