Waste grease theft on the rise in Belgium

In Belgium, there have been police reports of increased theft of waste cooking oil around the Wallonia province—which authorities are calling ‘environmental fraud’—ostensibly as people attempt to produce biodiesel for personal use and later brag about it on the internet. Thieves, who steal the oil from French fry stands and container parks, are claiming to produce biodiesel for between 20 and 35 cents per kilo.
