Jawkai Bioengineering reports 120 MT per hectare annual biomass growth in China

November 29, 2010 |

In China, Jawkai Bioengineering in Shenzen reports that “our company has achieved an average annual yield of 120 metric tons dried diatom per hectare. We harvest every day at 5:30PM in the winter and 6:30PM in the summer.  Our peak single day yield was 240 MT per hectare per year equivalent.

“Very preliminary data (almost too good to be true) from the University of Illinois at Urbana indicated a crude oil yield of 56% of dry weight by hydro-thermal-liquefaction. Our company has developed an open production system that allows us to maintain over 90% purity of selected diatom species and control of aquatic animals in our system. We welcome qualified visitors and allow the visitors who are on site at the harvest time to inspect our harvesting process and verify our yield data.”
