Bio-Dynamic, Shanghai Zhongwei Biochemistry JV for China cellulosic ethanol in 2011

In China, Bio-Dynamic Group a joint venture agreement with Shanghai Zhongwei Biochemistry to produce  cellulosic ethanol from kenaf.  The companies said that they will develop a 2.8 million gallon (10,000 ton per year) plant in 2011, and expand that facility to between 28 and 56 million gallons by 2013.

Shanghai Zhongwei will control 75 percent of the joint venture, and will contribute the core processing technology, which will be co-located with Bio-Dynamic’s existing first generation ethanol production in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province.

Kenaf, also known as java jute or Deccan hemp, is grown in southern Asia and the United states for its fiber, and in south-eastern India is cooked with daal and served as saag.
