Kenya jatropha project on hold over zoning troubles

June 8, 2011 |

In Kenya, the National Environmental Management Authority is holding off on giving permission to Kenya Jatropha Energy Limited to begin 10,000 hectare pilot scale implementation of its 50,000 hectare project in the Dakacha Woodlands because the company hasn’t yet complied with requirements.

A zoning of the area has been requested as well as land use change permission from the Ministry of Lands and the Malindi County Council.
