In China, Suzhou Hipro Polymers reports that since launching a line of nylon products made with castor oil at ChinaPlas 2010, its plant is running at full capacity of 5,000 tonnes per year.
In June, Hipro started construction of a plant to bring annual production to 15,000 tonnes per year, which they expect to start up in Q2, 2012. Hipro’s nylon products include nylon 6/10, 10/10 and 10/12, containing anywhere between 40 to 100% castor-oil content for products ranging from wind turbine slewing rings, electronic components, backsheets for PV solar modules and automotive tubing systems.
