In Canada, the Energy Policy Institute of Canada, presenting to Ministers attending the Energy and Mines Ministers Conference, made five interim recommendations that support the implementation of a pan-Canadian and pan-energy strategy.
In A Strategy for Canada’s Global Energy Leadership – Progress Document, EPIC proposed:
1.Eliminating overlapping federal, provincial and municipal regulations.
2. Expanding energy exports to Asia.
3. Moving towards a long-term carbon-pricing regime in Canada;
4. Promoting greater public knowledge;
5. Fostering energy innovation by encouraging more private sector investment in game-changing technologies.
