Late fuel delivery prompts delay of Thomson Airways biofuels flights to September

July 28, 2011 |

In the UK, Thompson Airways announced the postponement of its first commercial flight powered by sustainable biofuels following delivery problems. The flight would have been the first flight in the country to be powered by alternative fuel.

Scheduled to fly from Birmingham to Palma, Majorca, the flight will now be powered by conventional jet fuel. The late delivery from the Company’s US supplier did not allow enough time for necessary tests to be performed before take off. To avoid testing the new fuel during the airline’s peak period, Thompson Airlines has decided to begin fueling its planes with biofuels from September.
