August 29, 2011 |

In California, the U.S. Geological Survey reduced its estimate of “technically recoverable natural gas” from the Marcellus Shale formation, by 75 percent, to 84 trillion cubic feet, from a figure of 410 trillion cubic feet previously estimated by the Energy Information Administration.

The Post Carbon Institute writes “our detailed new energy report, “Will Natural Gas Fuel America in the 21st Century?”, downloaded over 13,000 times in the past three months, argues that the natural gas industry has propagated dangerously false claims about natural gas production supply, cost and environmental impact.” The PCI says that claims that the United States has a 100-year supply of low-cost natural gas. are ” a pipe dream:”
