Mumias readies for ethanol construction start in Kenya

In Kenya, the country’s largest sugar miller Mumias expects to begin construction on its 22 million liter ethanol facility in December. Despite the 2009 drought and cane poaching, the company still managed to report a 21% rise in full year pre-tax profit. It sees ethanol production, along with co-generation from bagasse and drinking water production, as key areas to diversify and strengthen the company.
