FL state rep proposes end to state Renewable Fuel Standard

September 8, 2011 |

In Florida, State Rep. Matt Gaetz has proposed the repeal of the Florida Renewable Fuel Standard Act. If the bill he introduced in early August becomes law, gasoline distributors would no longer be required to sell fuel containing nine to 10 percent ethanol.

Gaetz wants to scrap the law implemented on Dec. 31, 2010 as he claims it “has really had some negative consequences.”

Beginning on December 31, 2010, all gasoline sold or offered for sale in Florida by a terminal supplier, importer, blender, or wholesaler is required to contain 9 to 10 percent of agriculturally-derived denatured ethanol fuel by volume.
