Marquis Energy puts Illinois ethanol expansion on hold

September 15, 2011 |

In Illinois, Marquis Energy has put on hold the planned expansion of its 140 million gallon per year ethanol plant in Hennepin due to a dispute with Putnam County Assessment Office. The office valued the facility at $26.8 million for 2011 as well as 2010, though the company says that is roughly double the assessed value for 35 other ethanol plants of similar size around the country.

The dispute is currently waiting a hearing date before the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board.
