Brazil to import 1B liters of ethanol in 2011: UNICA

September 22, 2011 |

In Brazil, UNICA expects the country to import 1 billion liters of ethanol during 2011 to make up for its production shortfall this year as producers focus more on sugar production rather than ethanol due to exceptionally high global sugar prices.

So far, ethanol production is down 19% on the year at 13.77 billion liters, with roughly half the harvest completed.
