OriginOil files for algal extraction patent

In California, OriginOil has filed for a U.S. patent to cover a new algal extraction process using a naturally occurring algal metabolite.  According to OriginOil, preliminary laboratory results from testing conducted with Nannochloropsis oculata have shown efficiency gains on the order of 12-15%, without the use of toxic solvents.  The company stated that they will be incorporating this into their Single Step Extraction process.
