VTT/MSI Center for Bioengineering launches, to focus on bio-based chemicals

In California, a group of top researchers announced the launch of the VTT/MSI Center for Bioengineering, focused on basic and applied research for engineering cells and molecules. The Center is located in Berkeley.  The VTT/MSI Center for Bioengineering will include international, collaborative research projects between researchers at the Molecular Sciences Institute of Berkeley and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

The Center will be working to the production of bio-based chemicals and proteins in industrial microbes, and to develop novel quantitative tools for the detection of toxins, chemicals and biological markers or agents of disease.
