MD county clears path for Greenlight biodiesel expansion, via tax deal

November 30, 2011 |

In Maryland, the Somerset County Board of Commissioners are expecting to waive finance charges and interest on Greenlight’s property tax bill. The facility suffered an explosion in 2008 but is now back on track producing 80,000 gallons of biodiesel this month. The company wants to expand production but says it can’t until its tax issues are all out of the way. The county has already agreed to lower taxes for 2008-2011.
