December 15, 2011 |

In the Philippines, the Dept. of Agriculture is talking to San Carlos Bioenergy, who currently produces ethanol from molasses, to start producing ethanol from sweet sorghum in order to boost sweet sorghum production in the province of Negros Occidental. Discussions are regarding a new commercial-scale facility.

In coordination with International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), the department’s Bureau of Agricultural Statistics has been researching the potential for sweet sorghum for the past few years and wants to see the feedstock promoted.
