US-Israeli BIRD program awards $8.1M in grants, Covanta a winner

In Israel, the the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation has approved $8.1 million of funding for nine new projects between Israeli and American companies. In addition to the grants from BIRD, the projects will access private sector funding, boosting the total value of all projects to $22 million.

The approvals covered from medical to software.  One project in particular was for RAFAEL and Covanta Energy in New Jersey to develop a mobile biomass to fuels system.
