Ohio withholds $700K from Coshocton, cites ethanol plant default

December 26, 2011 |

In Ohio, the state’s Department of Development has put grants on hold for the city of Coshocton until it repays the $700,000 in federal grants awarded to help with infrastructure to the Coshocton Ethanol plant on County Road 271.

As a result, local residents may not have access to the Community Development Block Grant program for two years. Recently the city filed civil suit filed in Coshocton County Common Pleas Court against the ethanol plant for defaulting on joint loans worth $7 million and has a court date set for May 11.
