Biofuels Digest Index surges to 71.42 as advanced bio opens '12 strongly

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, opened 2012 with a 1.54 percent gain to 71.42 as advanced biofuels stocks surged again.  For the day, BP gained 3.28 percent to $44.14, while Amyris (AMRS) soared 6.33 percent to $12.27.  Among other equities, Gevo (GEVO) advanced 2.38 percent to $6.44. Overall, advances led declines 2 to 1 for the day.
