Nuke reservation may become clean energy hub

In Washington state, the transfer of a 1,600 acre nuclear reservation area for industrial development in the clean energy sector is being looked at by Energy Secretary Steven Chu after Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash requested him to expedite the process. Clearing the transfer through the DOE could take up to 18 months, but several companies are interested now. Inslee also requested that Chu consider locating a commercial-scale biorefinery in the state.
