April 11, 2012 |

In Indonesia, Wilmar International is investing $80 million in a palm-oil based aviation biofuel facility in East Java in conjunction with technology provider Elevance Renewable Sciences.

The company already produces biodiesel and bio-olefin from palm oil but the bio-olefin needs further refining to be used for jet fuel. Wilmar may cooperate with national oil company Pertamina in the future to market the jet fuel.
