GTI to showcase biofuels pilot plant via Chicago open house; $1.60 per gallon fuels in sight?

In Illinois, Gas Technology Institute (GTI) is hosting an open house at its new Pilot-Scale IH2 Plant in Chicago, Illinois tomorrow (Tuesday, April 17th). The industrial scale version of the IH2  Pilot Plant has been examined by National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and found to manufacture product with a Minimum Fuel selling price of $1.60/gallon* in commercial production. The IH2 process converts wood, agricultural residues, algae, aquatic plants and solid waste, among other feedstocks, to a liquid transportation fuel, rather than crude or oxygen-containing intermediates that need  upgrading to meet current specifications for transportation fuels.
