Bollore Group examining biofuels project options in Cameroon

June 14, 2012 |

In Cameroon, the government is exploring ways to produce renewable energy, especially biofuels and solar energy. French-owned Bollore Group recently met with Cameroon’s president and minister of water and energy to discuss large-scale biofuel production. In 2005, two subsidiaries of the Ballore Group, SAFACAM and Ferme Suisse, established a pilot biofuels program in Cameroon.

The Bollore Group controls more than 80 percent of palm oil production in the country, used mostly for export, but now plans to boost its production of biofuels significantly beyond the current rate of 100,000 liters per year.
