5 of 6 Minnesota ethanol plants in red, as fuel demand drops, VEETC tax credit bites

In Minnesota, five of the six ethanol companies in the state who report their earnings didn’t turn a profit during the last quarter, partly because of more efficient vehicles and partly because people are driving less in the weak economy. The industry has also been hit by the expiry of the VEETC at the end of last year.
