POET-DSM finalizes funding for cellulosic ethanol plant in Iowa

In Iowa, Royal DSM is providing funding for a joint venture in Emmetsburg for a cellulosic plant that has been on hold for two years.

The plant, expected to cost $250m, has been delayed because of the slow process for loan guarantees; but POET and DSM, after forming their joint venture, indicated that they expect the plant to open in time for the 2013 harvest.

The plant will be the first in Iowa to use a feedstock other than corn, as POET Biomass is already acquiring corn stover for the company to use as it comes online.
