50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy, 2012-13: registration opens

August 1, 2012 |

In Florida, registration opened August 1, 2012 for the 50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy rankings, complied and published by Biofuels Digest.

All registered companies will appear automatically on the Hot 50 ballot which will be distributed to 30,000 Digest subscribers and 1,000 invited international selectors.

Registered companies also will have the opportunity to provide company profile information to the annual Hot 50 Selectors Data Book. The data book, which last year weighed in at a hefty 382 pages, is believed to be the most comprehensive source for basic company information in the sector.

Companies may register themselves – or individual readers may nominate companies for the rankings, here.

Nominations and registration period will close Friday, August 31,2012;  voting will commence Wednesday, September 5, 2012 and continue through Friday October 12, 2012.

Voting will be weighted, 50 percent representing Biofuels Digest newsletter subscribers and 50 percent representing the invited international selectors.

“The Hot 50 recognizes companies with the optimal combination of visibility and credibility,” noted Biofuels Digest editor Jim Lane who founded the rankings in 2008. “If you have credibility but no visibility, you may be good, but you are not hot. Conversely, if you have visibility but no credibility, you may have hype, but not heat.”

The Hot 50 will be announced at Advanced Biofuels Markets, which will be held October 29-31, 2012 at the Wyndham Parc 55 in San Francisco, California.

Last year, Solazyme took the #1 position in the rankings, edging out 2010-11 winner Amyris. Solazyme also took the #1 position in 2009-10 while Coskata took the #1 ranking in 20080-9, the first year of the competition. There are more than 30,000 Google citations for the Rankings.
