In Iowa, waiving the RFS will not result in lower corn prices, according to reports published by Iowa State University and Purdue University. The Purdue study indicated that flexibility already built into the RFS is enough to reduce corn prices without having to waive any requirements. In fact, if the EPA did waive the RFS, corn prices would only decrease by 5.6% according to the Purdue study, and the Iowa State analysis indicated the reduction would be closer to 7.4%. Both studies concluded that the impact would be less than meaningful, resulting in just a .28% change in food prices.
