John Deere launches B100 tractor project

September 6, 2012 |

In Germany, John Deere has launched a new project called PraxTrak with the aim to develop a practicable tractor operated with 100% vegetable oil fuel. As the John Deere European Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) announced last week in Kaiserslautern, PraxTrak is connecting to the completed EU project 2ndVegOil, led under John Deere. This project achieved compliance with EU LEVEL 3a and 3b with vegetable oil fuels and has set foundation for EU LEVEL 4. The new tractor will meet the emission standard of EU LEVEL 4, in which more stringent values for particle and nitrogen oxide emissions are prescribed starting from 2014. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture through its project management organization, the Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR).
