Cargill do Brasil Working with Family Farmers, Receives Social Seal

In Brazil, Cargill do Brasil, the agriculture giant’s Brazilian division, announced it will receive a social seal from the Federal Ministry of Agrarian Development for its first biodiesel production facility in Tres Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul state. The seal is granted to companies that have feedstock supply contracts with family farmers and offers the company tax exemptions. The family farmers receive technical assistance and agricultural training, financed by the biofuel producer, including feedstock production as well as food production and security.
