Airbus and Sinopec aim to reduce airline fuel consumption through local biofuel production

September 25, 2012 |

In China, Airbus and Chinese company, Sinopec, have entered a partnership to develop carbon neutral alternatives to kerosene. The biofuel will be produced close to the airports, factories or local distribution networks instead of being inefficiently and expensively shipped worldwide. Longer-range airliners “burn fuel to carry fuel” and consum more energy than necessary. The joint venture will increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
