Biofuel Energy Corp idles ethanol plant following soaring corn prices

In Minnesota, Biofuel Energy Corp announced plans to idle its Fairmont ethanol facility due to soaring corn prices and lowering margins following this year’s considerable drought. The plant is located in Buffalo Lake and capable of producing 115 million gallons of ethanol per year. The company plans to keep its comparably sized plant in Wood River, Nebraska operational.
