National Farmers Union opposes Renewable Fuels Standard waiver

October 1, 2012 |

In Washington, D.C., the NFU President, Roger Johnson, reiterated his support for the RFS stating it reduces the U.S. dependency on foreign oil, promotes job creation, stimulates local economies and creates a valuable byproduct for livestock feed in the form of Dry Distillers Grains Solubles (DDGS). He adds that the RFS waiver would send a negative message to the emerging advanced biofuels industry and jeopardize thousands of jobs. He further explained that the ethanol industry is able to adapt to rising corn prices and reduce its need for the feedstock.
