Cape Cod company powering local economy from restaurant waste oil

October 15, 2012 |

In Massachusetts, success in local waste-to-biodiesel production has finally found Cape Cod Biofuels (CCBF). Originally started in 2006 to offset expensive diesel costs, the company now has seven employees and a plant in the Sandwich Industrial Park. CCBF collects 15-20,000 gallons from over 700 restaurants per month in the Cape Cod area and coverts it to biodiesel. The project not only reduces diesel costs for local companies by producing fuel from waste, but also ensures that waste oil is not shipped overseas.
