Algae Systems looking into Mobile Bay land lease for NASA technology

In Alabama, Algae Systems LLC is attempting to lease land in Daphne’s Bayfront Park to develop NASA-licensed technology converting algae into biofuel. Their patent-pending process involves growing algae in plastic bags in saltwater, and will take 2 to 3 years to fully implement, with up to $5m worth of equipment costs. The lease on the Mobile Bay land, if approved, will last up to 5 years.
