December 24, 2012 |

In North Carolina, Chemtex is embroiled in permitting for a $200m refinery production plant set to open at the end of 2015. The company sent a blueprint for the plant to the City Council and has received great feedback thus far. The plant will demand the cultivation of 20,000 acres of energy grasses, including switchgrass and miscanthus. The plant could bring in upwards of $1.3 m in property taxes for the city in the next five years.
