Derailed train in Southern Illinois spills thousands of gallons of ethanol

In Illinois, a train derailment near Mount Vernon spilled a few thousand gallons of ethanol. The accident involved eight Norfolk Southern cars that spilled between 3,400 and 5,000 gallons of ethanol from a 30,000-gallon tanker. No injuries or evacuations were reported but authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. Track clean up and repairs are expected to take several days.
