Biofuels Digest Index hits 9-month high of 70.55 as ethanol rallies

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, rose 0.43 percent to a 9-month high of 70.55 as an ethanol continued to rally. For the day, Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE) soared  9.11 percent to $8.98 on strong earnings, while Rentech (RTK) fell 2.22 percent to $3.08. Among other equities, Solazyme (SZYM) jumped 6.78 percent to $8.50 on news of a joint development with Mitsui. Overall, declines led advances 3 to 1 for the day.
