UK’s RFA seeking new chief executive

March 7, 2013 |

In the UK, Martin Wright, Chair of the Renewable Energy Association announced that the Association is seeking a new Chief Executive to take over from Gaynor Hartnell. Hartnell will not step down until a new Chief Executive is found, and will continue to work with the REA in a consultancy capacity thereafter. Under Gaynor’s leadership to date, the REA has played a key role in shaping the Renewable Heat Incentive, stabilising the Feed-in Tariff following the dramatic expansion of solar PV, ensuring that the parts of Electricity Market Reform impacting on renewables are compatible with the sector’s expansion (which is still work in progress) and kerbing some of the potentially more destabilising changes that could have occurred within the Renewables Obligation. She oversaw the REA’s merger with the Association for Organics Recycling, whose members were increasingly diversifying into anaerobic digestion.
