Momentive Specialty Chemicals launches three new bio-based rheological mortar additives

In Ohio, Momentive Specialty Chemicals is now offering the Axilat™ RH 8100 family of bio-based xanthan gums, which they state will allow mortar manufacturers to improve rheological properties and environmental profile of their products. The new line is produced using a patented process of bacterial fermentation in a vegetable-based medium, making the product 100% bio-based. Axilat RH 8100 products provide enhanced viscosifying effects, enabling dosage rate reduction for more cost-effective mortar formulations. When compared to the standard grade of xanthan gum, Axilat RH 8100 products have exhibited viscosity increases of up to 30 percent.
