Small-scale biodiesel plant and co-gen system to be auctioned online June 19

May 19, 2014 |

In Connecticut, Maas Companies will auction a surplus 1.5 million-gallon-per-year biodiesel equipment package and a 250 kilowatt Cat Generator/Cogen System Thursday, June 19 via a timed online auction ending at 5 p.m. EDT. The equipment is surplus to BioPur & BioPur Light & Power, a leader in renewable energy.

BioPur Inc. opened the first commercial, bio-diesel production facility in Connecticut in 2006. The plant used a batch-processing configuration to produce 1.5 MGY of ASTM D 6751, B99 and B100 fuel-grade biodiesel. The plant used soybean oil and recycled cooking oil (yellow grease) for feedstock in a dry wash process.

As a secondary business venture, BioPur Light & Power, used its own plant-produced biodiesel as clean electric power for the plant and sold the remaining power to the grid for up to 150 homes. The state-of-the-art “BioWatz Project” monitored real time generator production, power consumption, feedstock performance and environmental efficiencies. BioPur was a recipient of numerous federal U.S. Department of Energy grants and awards for its innovation.
