Massachusetts DOT releases impact study on ethanol rail transport

March 27, 2013 |

In Massachusetts, the DOT has released an impact study that outlines the proposed rail route that ethanol could use for transportation across the state, but approval is still required from Department of Environmental Protection. The proposed route uses Pan Am Railways – a combination of several MBTA lines – ending-up at Global Petroleum, the coastal oil facility, located on Chelsea Creek in Revere with existing MBTA tracks serving as railways to transport the ethanol trains through urban communities.
